Kim Bosman, MSc. Fifteen years on the edge of innovation, design and digital transition, and consistently early to every wave that followed.
I studied Business Administration at Erasmus University with a specialisation in Innovation Management, and I have spent my career since on the edge of innovation, design and technology.
I started as an IT consultant at Quint. At C1000 I introduced scrum at my IT projects department and it went viral. At Rally Software I took scaled agile into IKEA, LEGO, Philips and PAREXEL. At Schiphol I set up and led the Airport Control value stream and delivered Wilbur, a platform that forecasts the airport eight hours ahead and still runs at the heart of Airport Operations.
At Woonstad Rotterdam I merged two departments into a single technology, data and innovation function of roughly sixty FTE, and created a new seat at the executive board table in the process.
I designed my own house with an architect, in co-creation, and then did the building supervision myself. Not the building work. The decisions. Every design choice a site throws up, day after day, for twelve months: material, light, proportion, detail, and the sustainability work and the interior alongside it.
That is where design stopped being a method I could quote and became a daily practice. Design thinking had always been my method. Now design itself was in my hands too, and the two turned out to be the same instinct pointed at different things.
In 2025 an idea from my own garden turned into an invention. With AI as my working partner I designed the Thermo Totems: heat-active aluminium profiles that harvest heat for a water-to-water heat pump. Research, variants, drawings and the filing itself. Ten EU designs, available for licence through Kael Holding B.V.
That was the work, and the work is done. What happens with the portfolio next, a licence or a sale, is open. It has its own site: thermototems.com.
So when I talk about AI in an organisation it is not from reading. I have taken one product through a full development cycle on my own, which is exactly where you find out what AI carries and what it only appears to carry.
Design thinking, design, and now the tools to build it. No design, no glory.
Transitions, interim, one mandate at a time. An organisation does not have to be in good shape for me to take the work. That is usually why I am there. I come for the job, not for the company.
Give me a mandate with edges, real decision rights and a result to be measured against, and you get everything I have.
